Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1026(c): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of chromium (VI) which exceeded 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-hour time-weighted average: a) Weld shop, far side, second booth from paint spray booth. A welder performing TIG and MIG (flux core) welding on a stainless steel hopper was exposed to 13.7 micrograms hexavalent chromium per cubic meter of air, as an 8 hour time weighted average, which was 2.7 times the permissible exposure limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter. Sampling was conducted for 407 minutes, with zero exposure assumed for 73 minutes not sampled. No respiratory protection was worn. Violation occurred on or about 5/1/17.
