29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): When the employer had assessed the workplace hazard(s) and determined that hazard(s) were present, the employer did not select and/or use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in the hazard assessment: On or about June 14, 2017, at the pool pump room area, the employer did not provide and require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, chemical goggles, face shield and impermeable gloves when employees used the following corrosive products during pool water treatment operation: a. Employees pour Smart muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) and add Leslie's granulating powder (calcium hypochlorite) in the pool pit. b. Employees add Pool Fresh chlorinating 3 inch tablets (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) inside the pool skimmers. NOTE: Certification and documentation of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c) and (d), respectively.
