29 CFR 1910.107(b)(2): The interior surfaces of spray booths are not smooth and continuous without edges and otherwise designed to prevent pocketing of residues and facilitate cleaning and washing without injury. Employees performing spray finishing operations in the spray rooms are exposed to fire hazards and the employer fails to ensure that the walls and ceilings of the spray rooms, Bays #9, #10, and #11, are smooth to facilitate cleaning and washing to prevent pocketing of residues. This violation was last observed in the spray rooms on November 3, 2016. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that the interior surfaces of the spray rooms are designed and constructed in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.107(b)(2). Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including a copy of site-specific program detailing the procedures used to ensure compliance and training of employees.
