Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee use appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation: (a) Ark Woodworks Inc, at 878 Baseline Place, Brighton, CO: On and preceding 4/4/16, the employer did not ensure that each affected employee use appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from acids or caustic liquids. One employee added water to the lead acid battery used for the Multiton model EJB 25-157 walk-behind forklift. Lead acid batteries contain sulfuric acid. The employee did not wear eye protection that protected the eyes from the splash of a corrosive liquid. This condition exposed the employee to a chemical hazard. (b) Ark Woodworks Inc, at 878 Baseline Place, Brighton, CO: On and preceding 4/28/16, the employer did not ensure that each affected employee use appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles. Two employees operated a table saw and a pneumatic orbital sander while fabricating millwork or other wood products. The operations generated flying wood particles and dust. The employees wore non-safety prescription eyeglasses. The employer did not ensure that employees wore appropriate protective eyewear. This condition exposed the employees to a flying particle hazard.
