29 CFR 1910.146(g)(1): The employer shall provide training so that all employees whose work is regulated by this section acquire the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary for the safe performance of the duties assigned under this section. The employer failed to provide adequate training indicating that the quench tank chamber of the AFE-6 Casemaster furnance constituted a permit-required confined space and instructing that the job task of inserting the extended wrench into the chamber to adjust the quench tank elevator must comply with applicable confined space entry procedures.
