29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4): The employer did not ensure that: If the direction of travel to the exit or exit discharge is not immediately apparent, signs must be posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit and exit discharge. Additionally, the line-of-sight to an exit sign must clearly be visible at all times: Directional exit signs were modified and no longer point to the intended exits: a) A directional exit sign intended to point towards exit D was pointing away from exit D (right arrow was covered with tape). Location; Front of the store, exit D side. Employees may go to a different exit resulting in delay in egress in a fire or other emergency. b) A directional exit sign intended to point toward exit E was pointing in the opposite direction due to a broken connection where the sign hangs from the ceiling; sign was pointing towards a door which is not an exit.
