29 CFR 1910.303(a): The conductors and/or equipment required or permitted by this subpart were not approved: The employer does not use approved equipment. This violation was observed on or about July 15, 2013 in the Converting Building where an employee was exposed to an electrical shock hazard when operating a "homemade" hot wire to melt plastic threading from bobbins. Unitex Bag, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(i) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 316182450, citation number 01 item number 020(a) and was affirmed as a final order on June 14, 2012, with a final abatement date of June 14, 2012 with respect to a workplace located at 10550 Beaumont Hwy, Houston, TX. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that conductors and/or equipment required or permitted by this subpart are approved.
