29 CFR 1926.251(c)(1): Employers must not use improved plow-steel wire rope and wire-rope slings with loads in excess of the rated capacities (i.e., working load limits) indicated on the sling by permanently affixed and legible identification markings prescribed by the manufacturer: a) The employer does not ensure that improved plow-steel wire-rope with loads in excess of the rated capacities prescribed by the manufacturer are not used. This violation occurred on or about October 16, 2012, when employees used a one-quarter (1/4) inch diameter wire rope (LiftAll 6x19 IWRC wire rope) to lift a load in excess of the manufacturers rated capacity.
