Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Jobsite: 231 Long Bow Lane, Mars, PA 16046, Exterior; On or before March 23, 2011, an employee was unprotected and exposed to fall hazards of approximately 16 feet while working elevated on a wooden pallet. The pallet was not secured and did not have railings to prevent falling. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to use a platform meeting the design and use criteria set fourth in the Industrial Truck Development Foundation (ITSDF) B56.1-2005 standard.
