Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and tipping hazards due to improper maintenance and inspection of forklifts: a)On or about January 8, 2010, and at times prior, the Nissan forklift was not appropriately inspected or maintained, in that, the carriage near the forks was severely damaged. Among others, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to reguarly service and maintain the forklift and ensure that any damage is repaired.
