Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fracture and amputation hazards. a) Production area - Provisions were not made to prevent unintended operation (actuation) onto the foot treadle of the Cincinnati and Di-Acro press brakes from falling or moving objects or by accidently stepping on them. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable way to correct this hazard incudes, but not limited to the following. Conform to the American National Standards Institute ANSI B11.3-2002, Sections 6.10.2 and 6.10.3, which states that " When provided, foot controls shall be protected to prevent actuation from falling or moving objects or from unintended actuation by provided a foot pedal and treadle guards.
