Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: CHEMICAL
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential fire and explosion hazard from the improper storage of chemicals: On or about June 5th, 2008, at the Cigarette Racing Team LLC lamination department, the employees were exposed to fire/explosion hazards from the improper storage of chemicals. Organic Peroxides(Benox L-40V) and flammables (Boring Smith TI-50 and Core50-DB-001) were stored in the same storage room. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to store the chemicals separately as recommended by NFPA 432. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
