Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: STRUCK BY

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by a vehicles that operate near the refuse truck: a) Chatam Lane, Port Richey - On or about 5/25/07 - Refuse truck, license plate number N9181L, did not have retroreflective sheeting on the sides and back of the truck as required. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to affix retroreflective sheeting on the sides and back of the refuse trucks in adherence to safe practices and the employee requirements in accordance with ANSI Z245.1 - 2007 Mobile Wastes and Recyclable Materials Collection, Transportation, and Compaction Equipment - Safety Requirements, specifically by: each solid wastes straight truck with a GVWR of over 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg) shall be equipped with retroreflective sheeting(Paragraph of 7.4.1 ANSI Z254.1 - 2007).
