Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to shock and struck-by hazards: a)On or about April 18, 2007, and at times prior, employees in the maintenance shop were exposed to shock and struck-by hazards where the fluorescent light tubes in the lube pit were not covered to prevent contact. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install protective covers over the lights.
