Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: LIFTING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads: (a)Floor Assembly Area - Employees were required to work under a suspended floor assembly weighing up to 6,400 pounds, on or about June 23, 2006. (b)Ceiling Finishing Area - Employee was required to work under a suspended roof assembly weighing up to 8,400 pounds, on or about June 23, 2006. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to develop work practices and operational procedures that prohibit employees from working under the load in accordance with the Standard for Below-the Hook Lifting Devices - ASME B30.20 - 2003, ANSI B30.11 - Standard for Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes and ANSI B30.16 - Standard for Overhead Hoists. VERIFICATION REQUIRED
