Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee(s) were exposed to fall hazards while working from a safety platform that was not equipped with standard railings and was not secured to the lifting carriage and/or the forks of the forklift truck. Warehouse: 1)The safety cage used to elevate employees was not secured to the forks and/or the carriage of the forklift trucks. 2)The mid-rails on the left and right hand side of the safety cage were inadequate in that they were located below the required 21". One method, among other methods, to correct the condition, is to secure the safety platform to the forks and/or the carriage assembly and relocate the mid-rails on the cage.ails
