Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: LOCKOUT
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)farrowing building 2, room 16 -- an employee was working on an electrical circuit without having the circuit locked out or tagged out. NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to lock out or tag out all electrical circuits before work is conducted on them and ensure all employees observed these rules. OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE: 29 CFR 1910.333(b)(2): While any employee is exposed to contact with parts of fixed electric equipment or circuits which have been deenergized, the circuits energizing the parts shall be locked out or tagged out or both in accordance with the requirements of this paragraph.ts
