Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: In the alternative: 29CFR 1910.27(b)(1)(ii) Locations: Egg & Pullet Farms The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employees were exposed to injury and possibly death from falls when accessing the manure pits,via a ladder, in the egg and pullet farm. The ladder which was constructed of wood had uneven rungs & the distance from the last rung to the floor of the manure pit was from 24 - 45 inches. The distance from the work area to the bottom of the manure pit floor was about 9 feet.
