Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to approximately 18 foot falls from the self-propelled elevating work platform while standing on the guardrails and failing to close the access gate. There are numerous ways to abate the hazard of falling including but not limited to following ANSI A92.6 - 1990 (or newer), Sections 6, 7 and 8 which address, among others, the inspection, training and safe operation requirements to be followed.
