Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of thrown from or crushed by in-house trains: a) USS, Fairless Works - The RD rail north of the east yard had a four (4) bolt splice bar in which both bolts from the north end of the splice bar were missing. Abatement Note: One feasible and useful means of abatement among other methods would be for the company to better implement and enforce a safety inspection and repair program to ensure all active railroad tracks are not used unless they are free from deficiencies that may cause employees to become injured.
