Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: LIFTING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129 (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)facility; batching - below the hook lifting device used to lift rolls of beamed material was not inspected prior to initial use, frequently and periodically. REFERENCE: ANSI B30.20-1985 Section 20-1.3 - INSPECTIONS Prior to initial use, all new, altered, modified, or repaired lifting devices shall be inspected by a designated person. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to have all below the hook lifting devices inspected, and continue on a frequent and periodic basis.
