Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of an unsafe passenger elevator: On or about 7-5-2000 for the one person electric elevator (also known as a manlift) located near the grain dump, there had not been any type of routine safety inspections performed by an inspector who meets the qualification requirements of the ANSI A17-1-1993 code, in the past year. This condition exposes employees using the elevator to the hazard of riding in a potentially unsafe passenger elevator. One method of abatement to correct this hazard is to have inspections and test of the elevator conducted as described in the American National Standard Safety Code ANSI A17.1-1993, Sections 1001 and 1002, Rule 1001.2 and 1002.2. ***THIS ITEM REQUIRES A WRITTEN CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT***
