29 CFR 1910.307(c): Electrical installations. Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations shall be intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location. (a) On or about January 22, 2025, the employer did not ensure employees tasked with defueling compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks, performed the task in a facility with electrical installations not approved for a hazardous atmosphere. This exposes the employees to explosion/flash fire hazards when releasing CNG in the vicinity of class I division 2 electrical.
