29 CFR 1910.217(d)(1): General requirements. The employer shall: (i) Use dies and operating methods designed to control or eliminate hazards to operating personnel, and (ii) furnish and enforce the use of hand tools for freeing and removing stuck work or scrap pieces from the die, so that no employee need reach into the point of operation for such purposes. a) On or before 2/4/2025, the employer did not ensure that operators working equipment such as the part revolution mechanical power press AIDA (model # NC1-1500(2)E) SER # C0415-1735) had the means to clear stuck parts and that the employer enforced the use of such tools, in that employees were reaching into the point of operation to clear the stuck parts from the ejector with their hands, employees were exposed to a caught-in hazard during this process once the stuck part is removed and the ejector activates.
