29 CFR 1926.605(d)(2): The employer did not ensure that there was in the vicinity of each barge in use at least one U.S. Coast Guard-approved 30-inch life ring with not less than 90 feet of line attached: a) Eastern Branch Lynnhaven River: On or about January 9, 2025, employees were working on a barge conducting dredging operations. The 30-inch life ring located on the barge was not readily accessible and capable of being rapidly cast, in that it became wedged behind the diesel fuel cell. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
