29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: a) On December 10, 2024, at the above addressed jobsite, the portable ladder used by employees to access and egress the roof over the front stoop, measuring approximately 14 feet from ground to the front peek, was not extended to have the side rails extend at least three (3) feet above the upper landing. b) On December 10, 2024, at the above addressed jobsite, the portable ladder used by employees to access and egress the roof, measuring approximately 24 feet from ground to eve, was not extended to have the side rails extend at least three (3) feet above the upper landing. Ali Josue Correa Ortiz was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 1926.1053(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1505117, citation number 2, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on February 1, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 509 Saint James Court in Oak Brook, Illinois. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
