Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.201(a): Signaling by flaggers and the use of flaggers, including warning garments worn by flaggers did not conform to Part VI of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, (1988 Edition, Revision 3 or the Millennium Edition): (a) On or about August 26, 2024, at or near the intersection of S. Holly St and E. Arapahoe Road, the employer did not ensure employees providing traffic control had followed the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) to instruct flaggers to use proper hand-signaling devices to direct traffic. Employees were directing traffic using hand signals without the aid of paddles and/or flags. This condition exposed employees in the work zone to a struck-by hazard. Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
