29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Inside Tank System Stages 1-14; On or about August 13, 2024, and at times prior, employees were exposed to skin burns and eye damage, in that the employer did not ensure Maintenance Technicians and Production Associates were provided personal protective equipment including chemical resistant and impervious gloves when retrieving and removing fallen materials from the tank system, b) Quality Specialist Department/Production Area; On or about August 13, 2024, and at times prior, employees were exposed to skin dryness and cracking, in that the employer did not ensure Quality Specialists who rub Methyl Ethyl Ketone on materials to check quality were provided personal protective equipment including protective gloves. c) Powder Paint Booth Area; On or about August 13, 2024, and at times prior, employees were exposed to allergic skin reactions and blistering, in that the employer did not ensure Painter's Helpers were required to use personal protective equipment including chemical resistant and impervious gloves.
