29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe condition(s) and the regulation(s) applicable to his\her work environment to control or eliminate any hazard(s) or other exposure to illness or injury: On June 24, 2024, the employer failed to instruct employees in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions applicable to outdoor concrete work, including but not limited to a high ambient heat index and strenuous work in direct sunlight, that could lead to the development of heat related illness. Workers did not receive training and information on the following elements of a Heat Stress Prevention Program, including but not limited to: ? work adjustments based on temperature; and ? acclimatization for new and returning workers; and ? work rest schedule regime; and ? recognition of the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses; and ? the importance of emergency medical treatment for heat stroke and heat exhaustion; and ? the importance of immediately reporting to their supervisor the development of any signs or symptoms of heat-related illnesses; and ? emergency contact protocols; and ? heat buddy system.
