29 CFR 1910.176(a): Where mechanical handling equipment was used, sufficient safe clearances were not allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways were not kept clear and in good repair, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard. Permanent aisles and passageways were not appropriately marked. (a) Mail processing area, 555 S. BB King Blvd, Memphis, TN: On or about 01/31/2024, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards, in that the aisles were blocked by pallets of cardboard, APC carts, stacks of plastic pallets, and other materials being stored on the floor. (b) Mail processing area, 555 S. BB King Blvd, Memphis, TN: On or about 01/31/2024, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards, in that aisles used for both pedestrian traffic and PIT traffic were not clearly marked forcing pedestrians and PITs to work in close proximity with no protective barrier or separately marked aisles.
