29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a.) On or about November 16, 2023, and at times prior, employees were exposed to an inclined belt conveyor roller that was not guarded and contained exposed, rotating parts. There was no guarding at the bottom of the inclined conveyor belt that loads brick into trucks (the tumbler area). The employees are loading bricks in this area and work within a few feet of the rotating part. b.) On or about November 16, 2023, and at times prior, employees were exposed to a horizontal belt conveyor roller (tumbler area) that was not guarded and contained exposed, rotating parts. The employees are loading bricks in this area and work within a few feet of the rotating part. c.) On or about November 29, 2023, and at times prior, employees were exposed to crush hazards when operating the brick lifting and laying machine inside the manufacturing plant. The employees are climbing under the machine that grabs bricks to lift them to another area. Employees are immediately exposed to crush hazards as they reach in between the "claw" of the machine and the bottom of the platform that clams down to grab bricks and lift them.
