Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1425(a): Where available, hoisting routes that minimize the exposure of employees to hoisted loads must be used, to the extent consistent with public safety. a. Mingo's Construction LLC located at 860 Jaeger Street, Columbus, OH 43206: On or about October 4, 2023, during the construction of a mixed-use (commercial/residential) building, the employer did not ensure available hoisting routes which minimized the exposure of employees to overhead loads were utilized. With the use of a tower crane, bundles of OSB sheathing were being offloaded from delivery trucks to the second deck of the structure. The hoisting routes did not minimize exposure to employees who were utilizing a ladder to the second deck and working at ground level within the fall zone as the loads were being repeatedly lifted from the trucks to the second deck. The following condition exposed employees to struck-by hazards from the overhead loads and a subsequent felled load event.
