29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets. On or about August 30, 2023, the employer did not provide employees working as "floormen/utilities" with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals. Employees are working with SUNKOTE 455, adding it to the water near the Stacker. Employees are exposed to Category 1 health hazards/injuries such as corrosion, skin irritation, and/or serious eye damage while working with SUNKOTE 455 in the production/mill department. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
