29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries: Portable fire extinguishers were not readily accessible without subjecting employees to injuries if they tried to move items to access the fire extinguishers, as described in the following instances: a) Receiving Room, Entrance Doors - On or about November 4, 2022, portable fire extinguisher access was obstructed by metal rolling carts ("roll-tainers") which contained boxes of pet food, dining utensils, popped corn, and laundry detergent at approximately 6 feet tall which could subject employees to injuries if they were to attempt to access the fire extinguisher. b) Receiving Room, Exit Doors - On or about November 4, 2022, portable fire extinguisher access was obstructed by a line of boxes of cereal, drink, and pet product, a waste can, and brooms which could result in injury to employees if they were to attempt to access the fire extinguisher. Dollar General Corporation was previously cited for a Repeat Serious violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.157(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1620874, citation number 1, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 03/23/2023, with respect to a workplace located at 896 Marion Oaks Manor, Ocala, FL 34473. Dollar General Corporation was previously cited for a Repeat Serious violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1461290, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 08/31/2020, with respect to a workplace located at 1415 Ellis Avenue, Jackson, MS 39212.
