29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Vicinity of 6097 Screaming Eagle Blvd., Fort Campbell, KY: On or about 9/15/2022, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to lacerations and serious eye injury, in that an employees were operating SCAG Turf Tiger II zero radius mowers performing mowing operations without shoot guards. (b) Maintenance/Admin building 6468 53rd Street, Fort Campbell, KY: On or about 9/15/2022, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to lacerations and serious eye injury, in that employees were operating SCAG Turf Tiger II zero radius mowers performing mowing operations with shoot guards that were tied in an up position. (c) Range 22 Angels Rd., Fort Campbell, KY: On or about 9/16/2022, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to lacerations and serious eye injury, in that employees were operating SCAG Turf Tiger II zero radius mowers performing mowing operations without shoot guards.
