29 CFR 1926.850(a): An engineering survey was not performed by a competent person to determine the condition of the framing, floors, and walls, and the possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations: (a) Hillandale Gettysburg LP, 370 Spicer Road, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - Prior to employees starting demolition operations on the six commercial poultry houses, the employer did not have an engineering survey of any of the buildings performed, exposing employees to struck-by hazards from a building collapse, on or about July 29, 2022. Abatement certification and documentation are required within 10 days after the abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
