29 CFR 1910.23(d)(2): 29 CFR 1910.23(d)(2): The employer did not ensure that the minimum perpendicular distance from the centerline of the steps or rungs, or grab bars, or both, to the nearest permanent object in back of the ladder is 7 inches (18 cm), except for elevator pit ladders, which have a minimum perpendicular distance of 4.5 inches (11 cm). (a) 157 West Jackson Street, New Holland, PA, building exterior next to compressor room door and yellow compressed gas storage cage - The top step of the yellow fixed ladder used for roof access with a height of approximately 13 feet is less than 7 inches away from the rain gutter. Employees are exposed to fall hazards. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
