Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprockets and chains. All sprocket wheels and chains shall be enclosed unless they are more than seven (7) feet above the floor or platform. Where the drive extends over other machine or working areas, protection against falling shall be provided. This subparagraph does not apply to manually operated sprockets. a) On or about May 24, 2022, the employer did not ensure all sprocket wheels and chains were enclosed in that an employee was operating the chop saw #4 with a conveyor to the right of the saw without the chain being enclosed. b) On or about May 24, 2022, the employer did not ensure the chains were enclosed in that employees were operating the End Matcher wearing gloves and were not protected from the moving chains.
