29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. 1 Capital Drive, Suite#1, Cranbury, NJ - Drill press - machine shop The employer did not ensure that machines that create hazards created by point of operation and rotating parts were guarded in a manner to prevent those hazards. Employees used a equipment that included, but was not limited to MSC Industrial Supply drill press where a guard was not installed to protect employees from rotating parts. Violation observed on or about April 21, 2022 b. 1 Capital Drive, Suite#1, Cranbury, NJ - Lathe - machine shop The employer did not ensure that machines that create hazards created by rotating parts were guarded in a manner to prevent those hazards. Employees engaged in the cutting of metal parts used Metal Lathe machines where the guard for the spindle and chuck did not adequately guard to prevent an employee from placing any body part in or near the rotating head.
