29 CFR 1910.29(b)(2)(iv): The employer did not ensure that guardrail systems met the requirement that other equivalent intermediate members (such as additional midrails and architectural panels) were installed so that the openings were not more than 19 inches (48 cm) wide. (a) Mill 6, Flooring Rip Line - Behind where the operator of the Precision Parts Connection LLC inverted swing cut-off (jump) saw, known as Cutter #1, stands, the guardrail system had two upper vertical intermediate railings cut out, creating a 23.5-inch high by 35-inch wide opening in the guardrail system, exposing employees operating Cutter#1 to a fall hazard of 6 feet 4.25 inches to the floor below, on or about August 27, 2021. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
