29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Colorado Roofing Products, LLC at 3590 Himalaya Road in Aurora, CO: On or before August 25, 2021, the employer did not ensure that machine guarding was provided on the KM line to protect flash trimming, sorting, and bundling employees from ingoing nip points on the conveyor belt. Points on the conveyor with inadequate guarding included but were not limited to: -Tail pulley near sorting/bundling station -Head pulley near flash trimming station -Tail pulley near flash trimming station This condition exposed employees to crushing and amputation hazards. (b) Colorado Roofing Products, LLC at 3590 Himalaya Road in Aurora, CO: On or before August 25, 2021, the employer did not ensure that machine guarding was provided to protect the KM booth operator from ingoing nip points on the tail pulley of the KM conveyor belt in the Pour Robot cage. This condition exposed employees to crushing and amputation hazards. (c) Colorado Roofing Products, LLC at 3590 Himalaya Road in Aurora, CO: On or before August 25, 2021, the employer did not ensure that machine guarding was provided around the KM robots and mold conveyor system. Employees could enter into the caged KM area through two unlocked, latched gates that were not equipped with interlocks. Employees regularly entered these gates to pass through the plant, exposing them to crushing and amputation hazards.
