29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. The employer will not ensure that employees use eye protection when exposed to eye hazards during the use of pneumatic nail guns during framing construction activities. This most recently occurred on August 5, 2020, at the 8427 Chesapeake Way NW, Pickerington, Ohio jobsite. The employer failed to ensure employees used eye protection while installing roof sheathing with the use of pneumatic nail guns. Jerry Turnbaugh was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1) which was contained in inspection number: 1) 1384927, Citation 2 Item 3, Issued on 4/8/2019 2) 1301052, Citation 1 Item 3, Issued on 3/29/2018 Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including a description of how these steps protect its employees from eye hazards associated with framing construction work activities.
