Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards associated with exposed blades when processing beef in the fabrication area. This was most recently documented on June 9, 2020 at the worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, Missouri. Employees were using a Biro Model 55 band saw, with unused portions of the blade not guarded while cutting leg portions from cow carcasses.
