Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed parts of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform, excepting runways used exclusively for oiling, or running adjustments, shall be protected by a stationary casing enclosing shafting completely or by a trough enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting as location requires. West Plant Bldg., 1005 E. Locust Street, DeKalb, DB 13 Wire Draw Machine. On or about March 5, 2020, a horizontal rotating shaft for power transmission along the back side of the machine was not adequately guarded throughout its run less than 7 feet above the floor. Employees were exposed to caught-in and crushing injuries to the hands, arms and body. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.29(d).
