29 CFR 1910.23(b)(13): Employees were carrying an object or load that could cause the employee to lose balance and fall while climbing up or down the ladder. The employer is failing to protect employees from stepladders fall hazards while engaged in retail activities. This was most recently documented on or about June 1, 2019, at Academy Sports + Outdoors at 14405 West 135th Street in Olathe, Kansas. An employee engaged in retail activities, was attempting to retrieve and carry down a JUGS Lite Pitching Machine from a gondolas top shelf, using a Werner A frame, eight foot ladder (Werner Model PT7408-4C, size 8 ft. Type IA Fiberglass Stepladder with casters) the employee lost his balance and fell to the concrete floor.
