29 CFR 1910.212(a)(5): Fan blade guards were not provided where the periphery of the blades was less than seven feet above the floor or working level and had openings larger than one half inch: Employees were exposed to caught-in and amputation hazards. Employees engaged in DC motors functional test activities at the following areas of the shop were exposed to caught-in and amputation hazards in that the rotating shop-made fan blades were not adequately guarded: a) The shop-made air fan blower unit in the Assembly Area (Front Shop) next to the Test Stand #1 area. b) The shop-made air fan blower unit in the Assembly Area (Front Shop) next to the Test Stand #2 area. c) The shop-made air fan blower unit in the Machine Shop Area (Back Shop) used to cool the air compressor unit. 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
