Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: The employer is failing to protect employees from chemical hazards. This was most recently documented at the MBTW facility located at 200 N. Main Street, Ottawa, Kansas. Employees engaged in waste removal work were exposed to skin irritation, carcinogenic hazards and burns while dispensing diesel fuel in that the employer did not provide training to ensure that employees are able to recognize, evaluate, and control the hazards associated with the chemicals with which they work.
