29 CFR 1910.179(n)(3)(i): The load shall be well secured and properly balanced in the sling or lifting device before it is lifted more than a few inches. a. On or about August 8, 2018 at the work site located at 2195 Wright Brothers Avenue in Columbus, Ohio, employees were using a 30/10 ton overhead crane to shift a 47 foot long steel I-beam in a painting area. The employer did not ensure that employees were securing and properly balancing the load before lifting it with the crane.
