29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): General requirements for machine guards. Guards shall be affixed to the machine where possible and secured elsewhere if for any reason attachment to the machine is not possible. The guard shall be such that it does not offer an accident hazard in itself: a) On or about July 18, 2018 the perforated sheet metal guards around the canning line #13 infeed portion, rotating seamer components and/or the outfeed portion were not secured and/or affixed to the machine during normal production. b) On or about July 18, 2018 the perforated sheet metal guards around the canning line #12 infeed portion, rotating seamer components and/or the outfeed portion were not secured and/or affixed to the machine during normal production. c) On or about July 18, 2018 the perforated sheet metal guards around the canning line #11 infeed portion, rotating seamer components and/or the outfeed portion were not secured and/or affixed to the machine during normal production. d) On or about July 18, the perforated sheet metal guards around the canning line #10 infeed portion, rotating seamer components and/or the outfeed portion were not secured and/or affixed to the machine during normal production. e) On or about July 18, the perforated sheet metal guards around the canning line #1 infeed portion, rotating seamer components and/or the outfeed portion were not secured and/or affixed to the machine during normal production. Del Monte Foods, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.212(a)(2) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1247076, citation number 1, item number 3a and was affirmed as a final order on January 4, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 1400 Plover Road, Plover, WI 54467.
