Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.962(b): General. For any employee to work transmission and distribution lines or equipment as deenergized, the employer shall ensure that the lines or equipment are deenergized under the provisions of � 1926.961 and shall ensure proper grounding of the lines or equipment as specified in paragraphs (c) through (h) of this section. However, if the employer can demonstrate that installation of a ground is impracticable or that the conditions resulting from the installation of a ground would present greater hazards to employees than working without grounds, the lines and equipment may be treated as deenergized provided that the employer establishes that all of the following conditions apply: a. On or before November 6, 2017 where employees were preparing electrical cables for the installation of potheads, the ends of the cables were not grounded at the transformer, resulting in the connection of the cable at the transformer, resulting in the hospitalization of an employee as a result of the electrical shock.
